Meet The Executive Council

President
Paul Bohnert
Paul is entering his fourth year as CTEC President and his sixteenth with Council. He is very excited about the new direction the Council has taken and is confident CTEC will be able to reach more members with meaningful CTS and CTF professional development. Paul has held CTEC Conference Director role seven times and represented the southern portion of the province as south PD Director for twelve years. He currently teaches at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle school in Lethbridge and conducts professional development sessions focusing on CTF promotion, assessment and projects for grades 4-9.

Vice President
Sheldon D'Souza
Sheldon D'Souza is a dedicated Red Seal Automotive Technician with over 15 years of experience in the automotive industry. He holds an Automotive Service Technology Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. His unique blend of industry experience and educational expertise makes him a valuable leader in career and technology education. Sheldon has achieved Master Toyota Technician status through rigorous training and hands-on work and is currently a high school automotive teacher in Calgary, bringing his extensive practical knowledge and passion for the trade into the classroom. Sheldon is committed to advancing career and technology education in Alberta. In his previous role as the Calgary and Area Professional Development Director, he was instrumental in organizing and delivering impactful professional development sessions for educators across the province. In 2024, Sheldon served as the Career and Technology Councils Conference Director, facilitating the professional growth of CTF & CTS Teachers from around Alberta during a successful conference in Canmore. In his new role as Vice President, Sheldon continues to advocate for the recognition of diverse educational pathways and the importance of professional growth for educators. He is passionate about creating opportunities for teachers to enhance their skills and better prepare students for future careers in the trades."

Executive Staff Officer
Philippe Bresee
Philippe Bresee is an Executive Staff Officer with the Alberta Teachers’ Association. He has been staff advisor to CTEC since 2023. Working with CTEC and its teachers has been a great experience. The council is dynamic and the world of career and technology education is ever evolving. Before joining the ATA, Philippe was a school principal in Canmore. He also taught junior and senior high humanities and was the woodworking / construction specialist.

Secretary
Courtney Albrecht
Courtney Albrecht is currently a CTF consultant with Edmonton Public Schools. Her areas of interest include Design, Fashion and Food Studies, STEAM and the integration of makerspaces in core subject areas. She is honoured to serve as the Secretary of CTEC and continue her work in advocacy for career education.

PEC Representative
Heather McCaig
Heather began teaching in 1995 at Irvine School in Southern Alberta. She moved into Medicine Hat and taught at Southview Elementary School, Medicine Hat High School and moved to Crescent Heights High School in 1999. At this time she became involved with the local ATA and was Vice-President moving to President during a 15 year period. In 2015 she was elected at the District Representative for the Southeast. The CTEC council is a natural fit for Heather as her leadership classes are comprised of modules from many CTS streams.

Paula Miller
I graduated with a Bachelors of Education in Secondary Education, majoring in Foods & Fashion. I currently teach CTS & CTF Food & Fashion Studies with Edmonton Catholic School District. I look forward to bringing professional development opportunities to Edmonton and the area. I am a passionate advocate for CTS & CTF programming and excited to program PD opportunities for teachers in the central area.

Philip S Scott
Philip has been working with Edmonton Catholic School Division since 2007 and is currently the CTS/CTF Consultant for Edmonton Catholic. Originally trained in Science and Math, he started his teaching career in rural Alberta from Elementary to High School. He quickly found his passion in CTF/CTS and Career options for students. He is happy to be part of CTEC which has provided him so much professional development over the years, as well as given him the opportunity to develop contacts and close friends.

PD - Edmonton
Sara Nestorovich
Sara Nestorovich is a dedicated educator with seven years of teaching experience. She has primarily taught Food Science in grades 10 to 12. Currently she is expanding her expertise to the junior high Foods program at Father Micheal Troy in Edmonton. She has taught across both divisions in Edmonton and is deeply passionate about CTF/CTS curriculum development. In addition to her teaching roles, she has previously served as a CSR Representative and an ARA Delegate for three consecutive years. Sara is excited to be working with the ATA again through CTEC this year!

PD - Northwest
Tracy
Hello, everyone. My name is Tracy, and I am the CTEC PD director for the northwest area of Alberta. I have been with the council since 2019. I have a journeyman red seal ticket in hairstyling and a Bachelor of Education. My major is CTS, and my minor is special education. I have been employed as a cosmetology teacher in the Grande Prairie School Division. I look forward to bringing professional development opportunities to the Northwestern region of Alberta.
